We attended the Supercar Rhino Run in aid of Rhino Connect and orphaned rhino calves. Here’s how it went and why the cause still needs your support.
What Was the Supercar Rhino Run All About? 🏎️
On Sunday, 20 July, we proudly took part in the Supercar Rhino Run, an adrenaline-packed event held on Nelson Mandela Bridge. It wasn’t just about supercars, it was about saving a species. The event collected long-life, fat-free milk for orphaned rhino calves, who can drink up to 16 litres a day! 🚗🍼
It was a spectacular blend of speed and heart, bringing attention to an incredible cause: Rhino Connect. Read on to find out more about the organisation and how you can still help. 👇
Who Is Rhino Connect?
Rhino Connect is a dedicated wildlife conservation NPO based in South Africa, focused on the protection and survival of the endangered rhinoceros. Founded by Tersia Jooste, the organisation provides:
- 🍼 Milk Fund for Orphaned Rhinos – helping calves grow strong after losing their mothers
- 🐕🦺 K9 Anti-Poaching Units – trained dogs that assist in safeguarding rhino populations
- 🚁 Aerial Surveillance – drone and aircraft patrols supporting security efforts
- 👨⚕️ Vet Training & Student Support – empowering future wildlife protectors
- 🎓 Community Education – encouraging everyday South Africans to get involved
Rhino Connect’s mission is clear: every rhino’s life matters, and they work tirelessly to protect these magnificent creatures.
Supercar Parade Meets Conservation.
The Supercar Parade wasn’t just a feast for the eyes, it was a moment to shine a spotlight on conservation. Car enthusiasts, families, and wildlife lovers all came together to support a great cause while admiring some of the most beautiful machines on wheels. 🦏❤️🏁
Why This Event Mattered
Every litre of milk collected during the event went towards the care and nourishment of baby rhinos who had lost their mothers due to poaching. Without this support, many of them wouldn’t survive.
Supporting Rhino Connect means more than just saving animals, it’s about protecting our heritage, preserving our ecosystems, and taking responsibility for our future. 🌱🌍
