M&T Racing is considering its future in the World Superbike Championship after confirming it will not be representing BMW in the series next season.

The Italian-based team competed under the BMW Italia banner in 2015 as the primary representative of the German manufacturer, starting the year with Sylvain Barrier before replacing him with Ayrton Badovini.

However, with BMW expected to form a new alliance with Althea Racing in what will be an expanded two rider effort, M&T Racing’s team manager Piero Guidi admits the uncertain future means his team may exit World Superbikes without a competitive partner.

“At the moment, we have been told that we are not going along with BMW for the future,” he told the official World Superbike site. “We know that BMW is negotiating with other teams and we don’t know what their plans are; I imagine that they want two riders and that is what they told us a few months ago. So we are not part of the game.”

“We will see if there is any professional job to be done in World Superbike. We would do it as M&T Racing. We will see what the future brings.”

“For me, it is black and white. Either we do a professional job or we pull out. We have to (make a decision) very soon because the new season starts with practices and tests, immediately after Qatar and during the month of November, so we have to reach an immediate decision. It won’t be easy. We will try our best. If not, that would be okay anyway.”
